Mrs. Kirkpatrick’s Class Information Parents, please read over this important information about our class with your child.
Home/School Communication Binder: Each child has a white communication binder that will be home to all important information this year. Please use this binder to send notes in with your child and I will use the binder to send home all important information. It is the student’s responsibility to show you the binder and bring the binder back to school every day.
The Binder Contains:
Student Agendas: Each child has a student agenda provided by Hendricks Elementary School. Homework assignments and important reminders are posted on the board each morning. Students are expected to record assignments and reminders in their agendas as a part of their morning routine. The agenda must be signed every evening. By signing the agenda you are indicating that you and your child have reviewed the contents of the binder.
Daily Behavior Record: In the agenda I will also record your child’s behavior level every day. A sticker means your child had a great day.
Important Papers: Thursday folder has a front and back pocket. These pockets will contain important papers from the office and graded papers that your child completed.
Transportation Change Form: Please note that any changes in the way your child goes home from school MUST be in writing. Without a note from home stating otherwise, your child will be required to take his/her usual way home. Transportation Change Forms are in your child’s binder for you to use or a handwritten note is fine.
Daily Schedule A tentative daily schedule will be sent home in the first few weeks; however, it is subject to change if needed.
Grades 100-90: A 89-80: B 79-74:C 73-70: D 69- below: F
Please remind your child to deposit money in the appropriate place in the morning before reporting to the classroom. ASP money should be deposited in the safe by the library. Other money (ex. lunch money) should be deposited in the small black safes near the office doors.
Breakfast Remind your child to eat breakfast BEFORE coming to the classroom. Any student arriving after the bell will be marked tardy. Eating breakfast is not an acceptable excuse.
Absences Please send a note explaining why your child is absent if you would like the absence to be excused. An excused absence is still an absence. If your child is absent, I will collect work for him/her throughout the day. You may pick it up, have a sibling pick it up, or wait for your child to pick it up when he/she returns. Your child will have as many days to make up his/her work as the number of days missed. It is important for your child to complete this work as soon as possible in order to keep up with new concepts taught in the classroom.
Birthday Treats Birthday treats are welcome for your child to share during lunch on his/her special day; however, please ensure the treat is pre-portioned to serve 20 students (i.e. no sheet cakes please). Also be sure that all necessary utensils and serving items are provided. Please remember that we cannot have “parties.”
Classroom expectations and procedures We will be working on rituals and routines for the classroom. Classroom expectations will be established. A copy of class expectations will be sent home next week.
